guiding principles i discovered i operate on
some of the principles which guide how i live life + make decisions
keeping this one short, but did a lot of reflecting on how my past 6 months have looked like. here are some beliefs i found that i believe in and dictate how i live my life + make decisions:
happiness = reality - expectation
only when you embrace the imperfections of yourself can you embrace the world
how strongly you embrace your imperfections dictates the intensity of love you are capable of
you can’t always grow and there will be natural stagnation; this is a law of biology
all humans crave the feeling of free will; whether or not someone does is subjective.
the emotions you draw your energy from to accomplish something dictate how you feel at the end.
your mental health relies on all verticals of life; not just one.
accepting that you are okay with the worst outcome of a decision means you are 100% convicted.
if you want to be the best at something, are you okay if the other aspects of your life are shit?
to deviate from the mean, you need to be temporarily misunderstood as an outlier.
being consistent is important. trusting the ability to stay consistent is more important.
the outcome is temporary; the journey is permanent
you can’t have it all; but you can fight for it
authentic people don’t care about your work. they care about the person you are outside of work and your dreams.
don’t judge the occupation of someone; judge their journey
true balance is impossible living in ordinary society
equilibrium in chemistry/physics never occurs in the real world
there is no reward without risk
knowing when to exit a profitable decision is a skill in itself
luck is the result of the amount of entropy you generate from your decisions
everyone gets at least one golden moment of luck; you must seize it and stick with it long enough
“when you’re favored by god, you’re also favored by the devil” - mike tyson
everyone single person is unique. therefore, everyone has an edge they can utilize to succeed
it may not be one skill. the combination of skills may be confounding variables on the outcome of success.
greatness is about resiliency and focus
federer’s commencement speech states he only won 54% of all points while winning 80% of his matches
last but not least: fame. money. power. these aren’t what you crave. you crave freedom to do what you want. you crave freedom from your insecurities and doubts about yourself.
hope you enjoyed this one let me know which ones you want to hear more about!
